It encompasses the floodplain formed along river courses and includes a transitional area with agricultural land and small settlements along rivers, all the way to the confluence of the Drava and the Danube at Aljmaš. Protected landscapes of Križnica, Jelkuš, Širinski otok and the wetland habitat Vir, which have been a part of the scope of the Mura – Drava Regional park since 2008 can be found in the area of ​ Pitomača municipality.
